Blast from the Past

I have titled this post, "Blast from the Past" because it reminds me of something that I would have blogged about pre-mommy/daddy days.

Nana and Grandpa took Emma for the day and night while
Nick and I had a DATE at Easton!We saw Transformers 3,enjoyed a delicious dinner on the terrace at Ocean Club,
and stayed the night at a hotel within walking distance.

While we both missed having our little munchkin around,
it was nice to have some alone time.
(All I'm missing is a picture of the two of us- bummer!)

Duckies!

Em and I spent the day with our buddies feeding the ducks at Creekside in Gahanna, playing on the playground, and having a picnic. Em was more interested in eating the bread herself than feeding it to the ducks, but we had a great time!

Celebrating the 4th

It was hot and humid without a trace of a breeze, but we had a blast celebrating the 4th of July with family and friends. We stuffed ourselves with yummy "cookout food" and played a friendly

(yet competitive) father/son game of corn hole.

Emma needed a lot of water after "working" in the garden
and playing in the grass!
Sparklers made me feel like a kid again!

We went to our first 4th of July parade as a family. Emma had been up since 5:30 am and was super tired, but she still enjoyed waving her flag and clapping to the music.

A New Day

This new day means a lot! It is the start of Nick's Chief year as an Orthopedic Surgery Resident. Last night, we were reminiscing about
this day 5 short years ago when he was starting out as an intern.

We were in our apartment after being married for 2 years.
Nick was nervous, and we were
both unsure of what was to lie ahead.
(2011- taken after 3 LONG months of trauma at Grant)

Now, we are still unsure of what is to lie ahead but I do know this- Life is Good! Sure, I complain about the many hours that work keeps Nick away from home, the sleep he has to catch up on when he is here, and all of the busy work that consumes his time. But when it comes down to it, we are very blessed with so many things: sweet Emma and a new baby on the way, a loving marriage, strong family support, understanding friends, and a comfortable home to share it all in. Yeah, residency has been rough on all of us (especially Nick) but what he is doing shows a true talent and devotion to something great!

Lima Land

Nick was working (go figure) so Emma and I went to see family
in Lima for a short visit.

Gammy got out some of Nick and Addie's old toys
for Emma to play with.

Great Grandma & Grandpa and Dave & Debbie came over for dinner.

It was too cold to swim and too rainy to ride on the golf cart, but we had a great time!
Emma was constant motion as she explored around the house.
Hopefully Nick can go with us for another visit soon!!!

Daddy's Day/Weekend

Nick took Emma on her first carousel ride at the new park downtown.
She waved at everyone as she went around and around!

There was a huge grass area and Em had a blast
running around and playing.
Daddy made sure she stayed safe.It was great spending time with my Daddy, too! He helps me in so many ways, and I am thankful to have such a loving and caring person in my life.
Nick's parents and grandparents also made it in for a cookout.

Happy Father's Day, guys! What would we do without you?!

Speak Now

The Taylor Swift "Speak Now" concert was a great place
to have some Mother/Daughter time!The show was AMAZING- complete with 8 costume changes, tap dancing, ballet, more dance, and extraordinary sets.

Taylor sounded great, and had so much energy. She's too darn cute!

We even got some close- up looks as she came to sing right in front of us and then soared around while singing, " Love Story" during the encore.

I love Taylor, love my Mom, and love my Dad for making sure his girls have fun nights out!
Nick and Emma had some quality time, too!

Conference Time

Nick recently attended the AOAO Orthopedic Conference in
Phoenix, Arizona.

In his free time, he enjoyed golfing...

socializing...

and beautiful views.

It was a great break from a busy trauma service.
Nick deserved some fun!

Race for the Cure

We participated in the Race for the Cure to celebrate my Aunt Brenda and Grandma Fisher.

It was the first time that we were involved in the event, and I was in awe of all of the amazing people that were a part of the day.Congrats to my Aunt and Grams for 5 years of being cancer-free!

Rainy day fun!

April is holding true to the saying, "April showers bring May flowers"! One rainy day after another means a lot of inside play time.
(and hopefully beautiful flowers soon)
It was time to mix it up and try something new...painting with chocolate pudding!More pudding went into Emma's mouth than on the paper, but we had a great time!
